Abstract
My paper aims to explore the Italian Giallo of the late Sixties and more specifically its flourishing use of the zoom lens, and argues that recent developments in the psychology of emotions and affective neurosciences can offer fruitful work-tools for a better understanding of such a not-only-technologically determined style device. The experiential dimensions of fear-relevant narrative will thus be highlighted, as those fictions, opening a wide space of learning about our personal emotional involvement and life world evaluations, grants us to adequate our emotional intelligence to culturally legitimate schemata, capable to take charge of our social life.
