Abstract
This article aims to reflect on Donald Trump’s vision of the state, as expressed between the elections of November 5, 2024, and the inauguration on January 20, 2025. The theme is addressed by looking at two closely related dimensions of political action: the symbolic-representative one, tied to the construction of the charismatic leader’s image, and the institutional one, which concerns, on\r\nthe one hand, the role of bureaucracy and administrative reforms and, on the other, the competences of the federal government. The\r\nanalysis of these two areas leads to the hypothesis that, from Trump’s perspective, the reform of the federal administrative system is\r\nlinked to two main objectives: on the one hand, the recognition of presidential predominance over state apparatuses responsible for\r\nmediating and regulating organized interests; and on the other, the desire to redefine the scope of the federal government’s competences\r\nand its relations with the member states.
