Abstract
The recent increase of unaccompanied minors in the EU member States, particularly in Italy and Greece, can be traced back to the important socio-political changes occurred in different areas of the Middle East and Africa. These minors became an important segment of the migrant population. Their employment inclusion therefore takes on particular relevance, mainly due to the fact that most of them are very close to become of age. Their rapid inclusion in the labour market is imperative in order to regularize their legal status once they turn to 18. So, acquiring a proper qualification and specific competences is a crucial goal. This article draws attention to the most important new features of the Italian Law 47/2017, and highlights the biographical characters of the unaccompanied minors hosted in the reception centers and their particular needs. Furthermore, some initiatives, aimed at training unaccompanied minors in Italy and supported by both public institutions and third sector organizations, are discussed.
