Abstract

While a few years ago an inventory was published of the books remaining in the Holy Office in Piacenza in 1769, when it was temporarily suppressed for the first time, now a new list of volumes in that institution's possession in 1711 permits us to make a diachronic comparison of two different images of the range of cultural tools put a disposal of the ecclesiastical organization in view of the activity carried out by their local officers for the investigation and control of moral and religious deviance in Farnese territory.
