Abstract
Twenty years after the liberalization of the opening of bank branches, Italy is widely considered an overbranched country. Our work aims to shed light on two critical aspects of the on-going process: on the one hand we examine in greater detail the regional disparities that exist today in Italy in the access to financial services and, prospectively, on the other we try to give evidence to problems and advantages of the restructuring of branch networks
