N2 - A definition of "moral exemplar" given by L. Zagzebski (2010) is compared with the most relevant passages of Aristotle's "Nichomachean Ethics", where the "wise human being/s" (phronimos/phronimoi) is/are concerned. The phronimos/phronimoi plays/play the role not of a simple moral exemplar, but of a complex one, through a series of polarities that she/they shows/show: singular/plural, phronimos-akrates (moral-immoral), rational-irrational. Aristotle suggests in a way that moral exemplarism requires a sort of "counter-exemplarism" to be defined and understood.
