Abstract
Since 2016, the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore has carried out a comprehensive archaeological research project in the village of Castelseprio, located outside the castrum walls. Combining non-invasive methods (such as LiDAR surveys and surface reconnaissance) with targeted stratigraphic excavations, the team identified and investigated several buildings, notably Building 100—a large medieval dwelling. Excavations revealed mixed construction techniques, domestic activity traces, and later structural modifications, indicating a complex stratigraphy and earlier occupation. Building 100 is the first extensively excavated house in the village, providing new insights into medieval settlement dynamics and the relationship between living “inside” and “outside” the fortified area.
