Abstract
Cinematic experience is deepness linked to history of women emancipation. Grounded on this premise, this essay rebuilds the history of Italian women moviegoing since the first affirmation of cinema as popular entertainment (in Italy during 1930’) to now. Especially, essay identifies four main phases: “modernity denied”, “everybody to home”, “erudited consumption” and “feminilization of consumption”.
