Abstract
The paper retraces and critically discusses the essays contained in the two volumes at stake,\r\nwhich are dedicated to the «categories» in the history of Western thought. By shifting freely\r\nbetween the two parts of the project, the proposed analysis aims to highlight both the possible\r\nconnections and the problematic points that arise from the treatment of concepts so central\r\nthat they are sometimes, and paradoxically, uncritically assumed. In this panorama the\r\nhistorical reconstruction and the theoretical investigation cooperate, in order to effectively\r\nrender the richness and complexity of the picture.
