Abstract
In 1574, the demolition of the altar of the Romanesque baptistery of St. John the Baptist in Mariano Comense led to the discovery of a stone capsule in the form of a sarcophagus, now kept in the parish archives; the reliquary contained fragments of figured silver-leaflets, the remains of a bone box, and textile fragments. The contribution reconsiders the capsella and its contents, also proposing a reconstruction of the bone cassette to which the silver laminettes were attached.
