Abstract
The paper has an exploratory orientation and aims to discuss some implications that arise in local authorities from the implementation of the public governance paradigm, focusing on the new managerial skills needed, on organizational structures and on areas of performance evaluation for public managers’ work.
More specifically, it highlights how the implementation of the public governance paradigm entails new soft
skills and new performance indicators for public managers’ evaluation and calls for modern organizational structures able to foster effective and non-extemporaneous stakeholders’ management, as well as a full governance of the accountability cycle.
