Abstract
The history of vines in Franciacorta, the hilly area located between the Mella and Oglio rivers in the province of Brescia, has roots that go back to the early Middle Ages: the essay illustrates the panorama of the viticultural varieties grown and the wines produced, with regard to the certified fermented in sources from the thirteenth century called "cisiolo", which can be considered of today's Franciacorta.
