The removal of a child from his or her birth family is a painful and extreme solution that has a profound and irreversible impact on the biographies of the people involved. The task of the child protection professional is to conceive and manage the removal of the child as a stage in a broader project of transformation and renewal of relationships in support of the child and his/her family. According to the Relational Social Work method, the removal of a child can allow for an increase in care resources by including in the coping network all those who are willing to contribute to the child's well-being. The book traces, from a theoretical and operational point of view, the steps in planning and implementing the removal intervention, from the complex decision-making process to the transfer of the child to the new living environment.
