Abstract
The essay goes through the facts which preceded the adoption of the ILO Convention n. 158 on the unfair dismissals, and then analyses the text of the Convention itself, by discussing strengths and weaknesses. The author concludes in favour of the persisting relevance of the Convention, which only would need limited restyling, aimed at encouraging broader ratification by ILO member States.
