Abstract
This paper offers some examples of how the religious Hebrew terminology was rendered into the Pentateuch Greek version. A particular attention focuses on the use of words belonging to the Greek, both Classical and Hellenistic, religious vocabulary, transliteration, different translations of the same Hebrew word, the use of semantic Hebraism and of lexical innovations such as the creation of new words or meanings and the passage of some words from a vocabulary to another. Then follows a deeper analysis of the Greek version of Num 25,1-5: it offers examples of words connected to the verb telein, whose semantic sphere in Classical and Hellenistic Greek is referred to milieux historically and religiously identified as mystic and mysterical.
