Abstract
The present paper is meant as a contribution to the methodological discussion on the qualitative approach of the conversational/colloquial matrix based research. The starting point is the analysis of the traditional juxtaposition between quantitative and qualitative approach, viewed in the light of recent relevant literature as well as of reflections emerged as conclusions of important studies. We then come to acknowledge the specificity of both approaches by highlighting their much needed being complementary, which is founded on the recognition of the inherently double nature of every research action.
The qualitative research in the study of interlocution, that is aimed at the study of the process nature of the interpersonal phenomena of co-construction of both social cognition and actors' identities, is investigated on the basis of the rigorous criteria of scientific research (sampling, results representativity, instruments sensitivity…), by underlining weak and strong points.
