Abstract
The recent reforms that have concerned Italian school system and the “work in progress” about\r\npre-service teachers education provide new stresses for reflecting upon school-based research and,\r\nin particular, lead to wonder about the most appropriate training methods to promote the\r\ndevelopment of methodological skills.\r\nThe paper deals with this issue moving from the analysis and critical evaluation of a training\r\ndevice put in action at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. Data analysis shows that\r\nresearch competence is recognized both as a resource for improving teaching practice quality and\r\nas a constitutive dimension of teacher professional identity.
