Abstract
The essay considers the development of research skills as “virtuous habits” and a deontological aspect of professionalism in education and training. “Since education does not have a certain knowledge but a horizon of possibilities, research qualifies as an essential element in the development of educational knowledge” (Mazzoni, Mortari, 2015). In order to establish an epistemological framework that is primarily pedagogical, research competences are inscribed in the organizational change of the educational world. They redefine academic\r\nresearch as a partnership with the local area, and aim at building an unprecedented alliance\r\nbetween school and university. The wide implications of scientific research substantiate an emancipative drive of the human, where the professional posture of research neither allows itself to be perturbed by the complexity of reality, nor yields to a simplifying theoretical anticipation, but embodies instead the educational tension of never relinquishing the sense and meaning of lifelong learning.
