Abstract
this study examined the social representation of politics in a sample of 100 participants subdivided into 4 equal groups (politicians, militants, interested people, and indifferent people). the theme of politics was explored in free interviews. the content analysis allowed to identify 31 thematic categories which were used to codify all the interviews. Data were submitted to MANOVA analysis. results showed that differencesamong the four groups can be assigned to fours specific categories: normativity, conflictuality, response to needs, and negative judgements on politics. Cluster analysis enabled to investigate the fields of representation of the four groups, identifying the meaning structures typical of each group.
