Abstract
Early Medieval Gregorian Chant manuscripts contribute to a better understanding of the history of Latin pronunciation. All of this is to be understood within the framework of the Carolingian cultural project of a new linguistic unification of Europe, i.e. sharing a common "L2" while accepting the manifold variety of the new European languages.
