Abstract
This paper concerns some issues raised by Beccaria’s opinion on judicial syllogism and on the spirit of the laws. The general aim of this essay is to defend the strong core of Beccaria’s point of view about the themes mentioned above and to underline their importance for contemporary legal philosophy. First of all it is not trivial to insist on legality principle in criminal law, especially in order to check judicial interpretation. Secondly it is still useful recognise the relationship between judicial syllogism, equality before the law and impartiality.
