Abstract
The essay reconstructs the festivals culture at the Habsburg court between the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. Emperor Maximilian I wanted to build his personal apotheosis by the means of many artistic projects, such as poems, books, engravings, paintings. The festival culture was an important section of his political project. Tournaments, masquerades, dynastic festivals, triumphal entries are realized with the collaboration of great artists, first of all Albrecht Durer for the Arch of Honor. The Arch of Honor is modeled by the festivals languages and became a model for the following ephemeral apparati.
