La “pentecontetia” in Trogo e nell’epitome di Giustino

This paper analyzes the reconstruction of the historical period corresponding to the "pentecontetia" of Thucydides in Trogus' prologi and in Justin (books II-III), with particular attention to the adopted periodization , the selection of topics and the historiographical tradition of reference. The analysis highlights the presence in Trogus / Justin a historiographical original path, independent from Thucydides, whose dependence on the historiographical thinking of the IV century is likely, although difficult to be reconstructed in details.
