Abstract
Starting from the structure of the Japanese poetic form 'haiku', the essay reflects on the features of a criminal law system conceived so as to respect human rights and fundamental liberties and guarantees, focusing on principles such as extrema ratio, rule of law, legislative self-restraint and consistency with the reality of social phenomena to be regulated.
