Abstract
The article presents Rinaldo Küfferle’s unpublished ‘rhythmic
translation’ of Pushkin’s Tatyana’s letter to Onegin, which is held amongst
the documents of the Küfferle collection in Fondazione Arnoldo e Alberto
Mondadori in Milan. The text is provided on the model of the documents
found in the archive and is accompanied with a short philological note that
describes its typewritten source. After a brief analysis of Küfferle’s lifelong
work on Pushkin and on Onegin in particular, the translation strategy used
on the Letter is examined with regard to the impact it has on the other levels
of the text.
