Abstract
Among the reasons for the extraordinary European fortune, in literary, artistic and musical fields, of Torquato Tasso's Jerusalem Delivered and of its founding role in the range of dramatic narrative genres, is the new and peculiar relationship that the poem establishes between the plot and the psychology of the characters. The present essay highlights this characteristic by means of a close observation of some episodes having as their protagonist the female character of Erminia.
