Abstract
The article analyzes four publications printed in Brescia between 1940 and 1944: two educational
textbooks for perspective teachers in preparation for national public competition (published
by Editrice La Scuola) and two ideological essays (Editrice Vannini). While trying to shape a “racial
and imperial conscience” and spreading a xenophobic and anti-Semitic ideology, the authors of
these publications contributed to create the cultural milieu for the approval and the implementation
of racial legislation in Italy.
