Abstract
The article begins by putting into evidence how the link between economical development and educational policies has been considered in contradictory ways by sociologists over the last fifty years. Secondly, it tries to point out the reasons that nowadays push to reconsider the importance of educational strategies (particularly vocational training) and investments in human capital facing unemployment and economic global competition in most of the western countries. The aim is to understand old and new theoretical paradigms and frames, thereby considering the knowledge acquisition that sociological approach could give in a field traditionally reserved to economic studies.
