Abstract
Studied the relation of age, gender, quality of parent–child communication, and development of parent–child communication. Human Ss: 633 normal male and female Italian school-age children and adolescents (aged 12–19 yrs). 1266 normal male and female Italian adults (parents of school-age and adolescent Ss). All Ss were members of intact families. Information on sociodemographic variables and parent–child communication was obtained by questionnaire. The results were evaluated according to gender of child and parent, age of child, quality of parent–child communication, and perception of communication. Tests used: The Parent–Adolescent Communication Inventory. An ANOVA and other statistical tests were used.
