Abstract
At the end of the 19th century, as part of the new Eastern policy of the Holy See, the "pro-Slavic turn" of Rome took place, in an attempt to favor the rapprochement of the Orthodox Churches with Catholicism. It was a cultural, diplomatic and religious action aimed at strengthening Slavic Catholicism in the Balkans and containing the growing Russian influence in the region, an unwelcome presence in the point of view of Rome.
