Abstract
This article is part of an international comparative study about the media treatment of the attacks which took place at the Atocha train station of Madrid in March 2004. Focused on Italy and based on a survey conducted on the four main newspapers of the country it analyses the stand taken by this press on this event. After a moment of compassion in front of dramatic consequences of the attacks, these newspapers seem to have the same analyse of the Italian situation and the Spanish one because of the similar position of their government regarding the Iraq war. If the tone is different from a title to another, a kind of "nationalization" of the event can be observed, to a certain extend. The event becomes more common while it is decrypted with a national perspective.
