Abstract
The process of democratization spurred in the modern era intertwined, especially in the West, with the development of capitalism, aside from providing more inclusive societies, also favored the economic development of many countries, helping the escape from poverty of large sections of the world population. However, this potentially mutually reinforcing process is currently presenting some limits and problems: the process of economic development, especially in the countries that mostly favored democratization, is growing less inclusive and becoming potentially "corrosive" of the democratic process itself. This issue is rooted in the SDC's contribution in terms of human integral development on the one hand and political inclusion and participation on the other.
