When approaching the world of Islam, we are not always aware that it is a religious tradition that spans over fourteen centuries. In attempt to overcome a superficial approach, to be able to retrace some steps historical figures of this long tradition also means fostering understanding of the transformations and tensions characterizing most societies Muslims, as well as the articulated nature of Islamism, understood as an ideology aimed at establishing an Islamic government system from part of Islamist movements. At the same time, it is urgent to identify the terrorist roots of minority currents that attract young Muslims born and / or raised in Europe, in order to understand why Islam is so easily exploitable, and also attempt to demythologize an imperative image that sees Islam as an inherently violent and intolerant religion
