Abstract
This introduction focuses on some of main problems dealt with in the book. First and foremost among such problems are those related to rhe effectiveness of the current Italian laws on money laundering (as shown by the very low rates of trials and convictions reported for this crime), on account of the difficulties encountered by professionals and authorities to correctly perceiev and evaluate the indicators of crime.
