Abstract

The introduction to the volume English for Young Learners from Pre-school to Lower Secondary: A CLIL Teacher-Training Project in Italian Schools begins by tracing the background to the ever younger starting age for foreign language learning in Italy and the shift towards content-based language teaching. It provides a brief overview of CLIL as a methodological solution and the context for the teacher education project that is the focus of this book. The training project, from feasibility stage to implementation, is then explained, followed by an outline of the chapters.
