Infrastructural investments and their impact on Sustainable Development Goals

The relationship between investments in infrastructure and development or economic growth is a long-term issue, for which a number of quantitative analyses has been provided by scholars. A frequent outcome of the empirical studies is the positive linkage between infrastructures and wellbeing. Nevertheless, the impact of infrastructures on economic performance can be studied also with respect to composite indicators of the territorial performance, like competitiveness and, more recently, sustainability. A similar analysis can be developed to investigate the relationship between infrastructures and composite indicators measuring sustainability.The paper provides a preliminary evaluation on these relationships.
