Abstract
The essay furnishes an intertextual reading of two Giancarlo Buzzi's novels, Il senatore (1958) and L'amore mio italiano (1963), with special reference to modernist literature and biblical metaphors. Touching on topics like the demise of modern-based corporate autohority and the rise of the consumer capitlism during the economic boom, Cavalli presents Buzzi's work as a search for 'third way' alternatives between apocalyptic denunciations and integrated celebrations of industrial society.
