Abstract
Starting from some recent new stories the essay explores the contemporary complex
relation among Western social contexts, the relevance of iconic dimension within some cultural
models (especially religiously motivated) and law. Along these lines the challenges related to legal
tools, including their conceptual horizons, allow to rethink the legal system and, in particular,
jurisdiction. Without abandoning the fundamental principles underlying the modern legal systems, it
is possible to suggest some conceptual and actionable points (coordinates) in order to better
understand the new social processes and the connected “iconic question”.
