Abstract
The methodology, the specificity and sensitivity, and the mechanisms of action of three bronchial challenge tests are described. Two are based on the specific action of molecules on specific receptors, while the third (ultrasonic mist of distilled water) involves the release of mediators triggered by a non-specific hypoosmolar stimulus.
