Abstract

Today via dei Piatti is located in what was the Southern sector of the ancient Mediolanum, an area that over time has returned numerous archaeological evidences. Unfortunately, in most cases these are occasional findings or discoveries during excavations carried out without the adoption of the stratigraphic method: their interpretation, therefore, is now rather difficult. However, it is possible to reconstruct that, since the late Republican era, in the area of vicolo S. Fermo, via Amedei 2 and via Lupetta were located valuable residences continuously renovated and enriched throughout the Imperial era. On the contrary, more uncertain remains the interpretation of the site of via Olmetto 3 – 5, where impressive walls were found, as well as remains of pavements and other minor structures.
