Abstract
Leopard’s conception of feeling is rooted in the integration he hoped for between intellect and imagination, examined in detail between 1820 and 1823. The common use of the “terms” makes them adequate to philosophical and scientific research. The frequent occurrence of “feeling” in synonymic dittology with other categories specifies its connections and differences to adjacent principles, in particular those required by the search, even as scientific research, of truth. The reading of the two Operette that have a scientist as protagonist leads to interesting conclusions.
