Abstract
In letter 72 Pier Damiani introduces a reflection on the so-called repose of the damned, which he is said to have discussed with Humbert of Silva Candida and Desiderius of Montecassino. On the basis of some contextual data we can assume that letter 72 was written between October 1059 and 5 May 1061 (and not between December 1059 and July 1061 as Reindel believed).
