Abstract
The dissemination of digital tools, especially in the post-pandemic era, has also become indispensable
in the context of museum structures, not only for accompanying visitors in their visit to the collection, but also for
presenting the museum itself or the museum site in a touristic key. The visit to the museum, the archaeological or
historical-artistic site, in fact, begins before entering, thanks precisely to the presence of digital tools, which by leveraging
gamification or augmented reality, “tell”, often in an engaging and captivating way, its characteristics, history, and
collections. It is not a question of simple and common Internet sites that allow booking or a quick view of the works
and exhibitions they promote, but of real virtual visits, sometimes even in a playful key, that appeal to the involvement
of the potential visitor, inducing him/her to introduce the cultural visit into the tourist itinerary of a place or a city.
The paper intends, precisely, to present through a few emblematic cases the potential of these tools in the narration of
cultural places
