Abstract
After his conversion Manzoni became a constant and keen reader of the Bible, whuch he always considered the main source of the revealed truth adn divine wisdom. it's not surprising, therefore, that starting from "Inni Sacri" on all his work (literary, theoretical, historiographic) is woven with references and quotations, implicit or explicit, from the two Testaments, and actually the Holy Scriptures are the "great code" beneath the invention and thought of the Christian Manzoni. This survey, which is not intended to be exhaustive, tries to set out, in an intertextual perspective and through a sample of emblematic texts, the prime reasons and the cores (theological, moral, thematic, symbolic, structural and linguistic) of the continous and meditated penetration of the biblical word into Manzoni's pages.
