Abstract

Several anti-cyberbullying intervention programs include specific actions aimed to increase youth’s awareness of Cyberbullying. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the associations of youth’s awareness of Cyberbullying with parents and teachers’ awareness of Cyberbullying, the quality of the communication with parents, the perceived school climate, and adolescents’ moral disengagement. Participants were 387 adolescents (47.80% girls) who answered measures assessing Cyberbullying and the perception of Cyberbullying. One hundred and fourty-six parents and 27 teachers answered a similar questionnaire on Cyberbullying. Adolescents’ awareness on Cyberbullying was not associated with adults’ awareness on Cyberbullying, but it was associated with higher levels of openness in the communication with parents. These results indicate that specific actions against Cyberbullying need to be realized within authentic relationships with adults.
