Abstract
This essay provides an original and wide review of the international literature concerning the migrants’ role as entrepreneurs. After describing classical an new theoretical approaches, the Author focuses her attention on the strong relation among international migrations, independent work and the processes of internationalisation of urban and national economies. The feedback effects in the sending countries are also taken into consideration.
This essay introduces a research report devoted to the entrepreneurs with a migratory background in the Lombardy region.
