Abstract
Increases in the reporting and prosecution of child sexual abuse have resulted in many children testifying in criminal court. In the present paper we presente the potential sources of children’s stress (the formality and unfamiliarity of the legal environment and procedures, multiple interviewing about the event, testifying) due to their legal involvement as victims in sexual abuse , and we discusse some measures that have been developed to reduce the stress and the negative psychological consequences associated with the legal involvement.
