Abstract
The article reflect on the link between social capital and facilitation of self help mutual help groups. It refers on an explorative study on social capital of “servitori insegnanti” in CAT’s movement (groups for alcohol addicted families). Their social capital doesn’t diverge in relation to their source: ex alcohol addicted people or their familiars have similar levels to social or health workers and volunteers. This demonstrates their relational richness for themselves and the community. Then, the article suggests that servitori insegnanti are witnesses of how welfare system could avoid to give only standard provisions. It could value social capital trained in relational experiences where engagement and commitment intertwine with enrichment and circulation of relational goods.
