Abstract
I studied the impact of historical relations between France and China on the linguistic descriptions of French language published between the end of the XIX et the beginning of the XX century. However, references to Chinese language in French dictionaries and essays about language may be dated back to the XVII c. Since that time, some typological aspects of Chinese language have been compared with French, especially homophony in spoken Chinese/French and the distance between written and oral language.
