Abstract
Adolescence is usually defined by search for identity, crisis of values, lack of meaning, uncertainty, and distress. It is mainly recognized as an age of change. Although not only boys and girls are changing, but their parents too. Because of some changes occurred in our social context and the family, the younger generation is facing nowadays a specific trouble, connected with finding a meaning in their lives, despite the diffused fading of traditions and institutions. In order to prevent narcissistic drift and despair, education must concentrate on developing conscience and responsibility, promoting authenticity and self-transcendence.
